Community Service Projects

Our goal is to effect change in Montgomery County that will positively affect the county as a whole while focusing on the community of Prices Fork. We do this through many fronts but one that we feel near to is community service projects. We try to do a project at least every two months that benefits our community and county.

Benefit Yard Sale for Montgomery County Christmas Store

We have been fortunate to host a Benefit Yard Sale for the past 5 years to benefit the Montgomery County Christmas Store. All proceeds from our Annual Benefit Yard Sale for the Montgomery County Christmas Store goes to the Christmas Store to benefit families in our community. We have averages $800 to $900 per year for the Christmas Store with it being as high as $1,200. Thank you to the members and community that both donate items for the Yard Sale and shop the sale. We keep the items to a cheaper cost to allow the community to also benefit by getting good items for cheap while knowing their money is going to a great cause! When COVID hit the Christmas Store could no longer take the used items that we had always gathered to donate to them. We knew we still wanted to help however we could, so we decided to do a Yard Sale with the donated items (with permission from the people who donated) and send the money to the Christmas Store. We did so good the first year that we decided to make it an annual event. All items that are left over at the end of the sale are given to other non-profits in the area such as Agape, Thrift-Well, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, Radford Clothing Bank, Local Schools, and many others. Items are never donated to places that will sell them for a profit.

Thanksgiving Boxes for Prices Fork Elementary

Every year Prices Fork Elementary gathers food to make Thanksgiving boxes for students at their school. We have been fortunate to be able to partner with them for the past 5 years or so to supply 6 thanksgiving boxes to them. We are able to do this thanks to our amazing members who chip in to supply the food items we use to make the boxes.

Silver Santa Program through Warm Hearth

The last three years we have had the honor of partnering with Warm Hearth during the holiday season to provide 6 of their residents with a gift basket of items they requested. We are so fortunate that Warm Hearth has continued to allow us to help support their most vulnerable clients during this season. We are thankful to the members who have pitched in with financial donations and shopping for the items.

Christmas Presents for Prices Fork Elementary

Similar to the Thanksgiving Baskets with PFES we are also fortunate to be able to pitch in and supply present for 6 of the kids at Prices Fork Elementary. In past years we have shopped for the presents and sent them in for them to give to the children. It has changed now to be a financial gift we give and the school does the shopping. We are so happy to continue to do this and hope to continue our multiple partnerships with Prices Fork Elementary in the future!

Goodie Bags for Local Shut-Ins

One way we are fortunate to be able to help the community it through our goodie bag program. Every December at our Annual Membership Banquet we pack 10-13 goodie bags for local shut-ins in our community. We are so excited to get to continue to do this and we hope that we are able to serve more of our community as we grow back to how we were before.
