We exemplify what the National Grange has to say for who we are and what we hope to accomplish!
Who We Are
The Grange is a family, community organization with its roots in agriculture. Founded in 1867, the Grange was formed as a national organization with a local focus. Our members are given the opportunity to learn and grow to their full potential as citizens and leaders.
The family is the base of the organization with full membership beginning at age 14. Women have been equal members since the inception of the Grange. We have a junior Grange program for children age 5 to 14, that has helped the youngest members of the family learn about community values and citizenship for more than 100 years. Our Grange Youth program develops the leadership skills of our young adults and young married couples.
The foundation of the organization is the Community Grange, which can be found in rural, suburban and urban communities. Faith, hope, charity, and fidelity are the basic lessons of the Community Grange.
The Grange has four levels, Community, County or District, State, and National to ensure that the membership’s voice is heard at the appropriate place. Our membership sets the direction and activities for their Community Grange in true grassroots fashion, and those decisions seep up to the national level. Nonpartisan legislative advocacy, educational programs, service projects, and social interaction and networking are just a few of the ways local Granges serve their communities and members.
Mission and Vision
Our mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities through service, education, nonpartisan grassroots advocacy and agricultural awareness.
Service
The National Grange envisions a vibrant future where rural and small communities thrive with vitality and pride. The National Grange strives to build a united, resilient nation where families are given the tools they need to succeed. Our commitment to creating and carrying out dynamic programs and experiences will instill family pride, providing excitement, engagement, and enrichment for individuals of all ages.
Advocacy
Through education, advocacy, and community service, the Grange will be an organization where every individual is empowered to contribute to the well-being of their hometowns, and where the rich tapestry that weaves from rural areas through cities is celebrated and preserved for generations to come.
Personal Development
Rooted in agriculture, we will instill life lessons and relevance for all, promoting sustainability, life skills, and fraternal ties. Drawing together a group of individuals as diverse as each corner of our country, we will advocate for the benefit of our communities through nonpartisan grassroots advocacy, empowering individuals and families of all kinds through support, opportunities, and life resources.
Belonging
As the premier progressive family fraternal organization, the National Grange is dedicated to using its solid, historical foundation to advance a widely recognized, welcoming, and cooperative Order that empowers people to pursue their ideas of entertainment, education, and enlightenment for all who desire to benefit.
